Subtropical climate means that there are nearly no frosts in Whangarei - this enables nearly every tropical plant to grow here.
Coming from Switzerland with cold winters this is a gardener's paradise! And we were lucky because we took over many beautiful Cabbage Trees,
a big palm, lots of great and mature Aloe and NZ Flax plants, lots of little succulents, tiny gems such as bromeliads, baby Cycads and a baby Banana, exotic fellows
like Taro, a Silk Tree, Bird of Paradise, iconic Ponga and Mamaku fern trees, native trees like Kanuka and Manuka,
Kowhai, Pittosporums, Rata, a rare Nikau Palm and best of all, our majestic and ancient jungle giant, the Pururi tree.
We still haven't identified all our plants but hope to catch up.
